Obama and Palin on the Tucson Tragedy
by Jery Weissman

Four days after the tragedy in Tucson, President Barack Obama and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin each spoke about the events; the president in a speech during a memorial at the University of Arizona and Ms. Palin in an Internet video. Each speech generated considerable commentary, most of it predictably falling along political lines.

However, one commentary was purely objective, confined only to rhetorical lines, focusing on tone, verbiage, and even the setting. Written by Michael D. Shear, chief writer for “The Caucus,” the political blog for the New York Times, the post was so thorough we offer you a link to the full text and let it speak for itself.
